League Constitution
Leagues: This league consists of a NFL, NBA, and MLB fantasy season. Each league is a Dynasty/Keeper League.
Owners: This league consists of 12 owners. All owners must own a team in all 3 leagues.
Draft Type: Each league will have an auction style draft. All owners will start with $10 per roster spot available. Example: there are 24 roster spots in the MLB draft so you will start with $240 to draft a team. In future years you will start with that same $240 plus or minus any traded dollars and any money spent on keepers. MLB $240, NFL $160, NBA $140.
Free Agents: Each league’s free agent system will be an auction style free agent system. Each league will start with $100 free agent dollars plus or minus any traded dollars. Waiver rules for each league are below.
Divisions: There will be 2 conferences and 4 divisions for every sport. They will be set randomly, and then will stay the same for all three sports starting each year with football. When a new football season starts we will reorder randomly again. For football each you will play each person in your division twice and then everyone else once. Basketball you will play your division 3 times, conference 2 times and the opposite conference 1 time. Baseball you will play everyone in your conference 3 times and everyone else once for 21 weeks. (Updated 03/27/13)
Playoffs: Each winner of the 4 divisions will get an automatic playoff spot, then the two wild card teams will go to the best overall records of non division winners regardless of conference or division. (2 wildcard teams may come from the same division or conference) Tie breaker for Football (for the first year only) goes as follows. Playoff Tiebreaker is head to head matchup 1st, then total points 2nd. Tiebreakers for basketball and football year two and going forward will be total points 1st then head to head record 2nd. For baseball, playoff tie breakers will be treated as if the two teams played a head to head matchup the entire season up to the date of the current week. So we would compare your season total of all stats such as hits runs rbi wins etc, and the winner would win just like any other head to head matchup with a score of 7-5 as an example. The 2nd tie breaker for baseball would be if a season long roto standings. Whoever placed higher in the standings is the winner. These same orders of tiebreakers apply to settling division winners, conference winners and playoff matchups should any of those end in a tie. (Please note: This section was updated 11/01/12 and 03/27/13 for clarification and due to results of voting)
Playoffs
Start Time: The playoffs "begin" when the last game of the prior week
is completed. Example if the fantasy football playoffs start in week 14,
then the playoffs technically start as soon as the monday night
football game of week 13 ends. (This section was edited 02/11/13 for
clarification)
Payouts: All three sports payouts work the same. If you win your Conference in the regular season you win $150. For the playoffs you will win $150 for 3rd place, $250 for 2nd place, and $500 for winning the league.
Keepers: All three leagues will be a dynasty/keeper league. An owner can keep any number of players they wish (zero to complete roster). Each player that is kept will cost the dollar amount that you drafted that player at plus a 10% increase every year you keep the player. All dollar amounts are rounded up to the nearest dollar. Example: You draft John Smith at $20. It will cost you $22 to keep him in year 1, $25 in year 2 (24.2 rounded up), $28 in year 3 (27.5 rounded up) and so on. All keeper deadline dates will be approximately 3 weeks prior to us drafting for that sport. You will be informed of the date for each sport well in advance.
Keeper Cam Newton Clause: All players that are kept for a 3rd time are subject to an increase to the ESPN Default if that dollar amount is more than you would be keeping him for. Example, last year I drafted Cam Newton for $1. I would then keep him for $2, and $3. If I choose to keep him in year 4 he is going to be kept for the higher value of $4 or the ESPN default value. Most likely the ESPN default in that situation. From there on, you would be keeping him for a 10% increase from the previous year. At no point will a players value decrease when keeping them.
Players who are picked up during the year (free agents) who are kept are kept at the percentage of your free agent dollars translated into draft dollars. Example: In football we have $100 free agent dollars and $160 draft dollars. So I picked up John Smith at $10 free agent dollars. This is 1/10 or 10% of my free agent money. If I wish to keep him I have to keep him at 10% of my draft budget next year. $16 draft dollars or 10% of $160. All picked up players who are traded are subject to the same system. All free agents who are kept must be on your roster before that sports fantasy playoffs start. Anyone you pick up during or after the playoffs cannot be kept. If A player is picked up multiple times by the same person or multiple people, the most recent picked up amount would apply to all free agent keeper rules. There will be a minimum of $5 as a keeper value for any Free Agent that is kept. (Sorry, no $0 keepers)
Traded players who are kept are kept at the increasing value of the previously kept dollar amount. So I have kept John Smith at $20 and $22 then I trade him to you. If you keep him you will pay 10% increase on $22 or $25.
Trading: Anything of value can be traded during open trading. This includes players, draft dollars, free agent dollars, future draft dollars, future free agent dollars etc. You may only trade 50% of your draft dollars in any given sport and any given season. You may no longer trade for a player to be named later. This prevents someone from trading below their 50% mark. (Updated 03/27/13 after 7 yes votes on facebook chat) Any of these can be cross sport trades as well. Example I can trade you Lebron James and $50 MLB draft dollars, for Aaron Rodgers and $40 NBA draft dollars and $10 MLB Free agent dollars for the year 2014 draft. Any future item can only be traded 3 years in advance. So if this league already existed, I could trade you draft dollars for 2012, 2013, and 2014. As soon as the 2012 draft was over, you can being trading for 2015. Note all trades will be subject to the espn "1 day" review period. League managers will no longer "push through trades manually. (Updated 03/27/13 for clarification and to prevent last second trades on sundays)
Trade Deadline - The trade deadline for each sport is two weeks prior to the start of that sports fantasy playoffs. Once the trade deadline has been hit, no trading for players in that sport can be made until the fantasy playoffs have ended. Future dollars for any sport can be traded at anytime. Additionally, once a keeper deadline has passed, you cannot make trades for kept players, draft dollars, or FAAB for that particular sport in that particular year. Trading for that sport in that year will reopen once the draft has started. (Updated 02/25/15 for clarification and Ryan Lynch complaining about it multiple times)
Collusion Clause – Trade backs will come with a hefty penalty. Any player that is traded, then traded back to you from the same owner within 1 calendar year cannot be kept and will have to sit out 25% (rounded up to even games) of that season after you receive them back. Example I trade you Tom Brady in week 3 of this year. Then you trade him back to me in week 9, I cannot keep him and he has to sit out 25% of the season or 4 games. Note: if a player is traded to another owner and then ends up back on your team there is no penalty.
Un-dropables – There will be no Un-droppable list.
Leaving the League: If you decide to leave the league at any time you will forfit any money that you have currently in any of the leagues. If you decide to quit after winning any money in a sport, a replacement will have to be found and voted on by the league before you would be paid out.
